Digital and Comic Styled Art
I'll be completely honest here, before I tried doing digital art I was quick to judge digital art & artists who make it. I assumed that just because a fancy computer program was involved it made everything easier, or near automatic, and therefor was not as much of an artistic achievement.
This is one hundred percent NOT the case, however. Yes, digital art does allow for easy changes in many ways, and some nifty filter effects, etc., but you still have to know what you're doing, as well as your goal of what subject you are creating. So, a word of advice to my fellow artists... and this applies to all mediums, not just digital, and that is... try it before you judge it.
about my technique:
There are so many ways to go about describing possible techniques with digital art. I tend to vary my approach here based on the subject matter. Sometimes I will scan in an inked drawing and go straight into color, other times I will dive right in to an empty file and begin as if I were painting... my best advice is exactly what I said in the 'comic-art' gallery; use as many layers as you need. This allows for easier fixes if you mess something up.
You can observe my working process in the video above.
